DOWNTOWN.   With its dedication to exhibit art from all over the world, the Columbia Museum of Art is one of finest museums in the state. Covering Renaissance, baroque and even modern day art, the museum has a lot to see. The traveling exhibits are also attractions themselves. There is always a new reason to come to the Columbia, SC Museum of Art, as one month may feature the French post-impressionist work of Cezanne and the next may feature the work of an American abstract expressionist like Cleve Gray.   (© 10Best)

This museum is better than the High in Atlanta by far! It's amazing that a city the size of Columbia has such a hidden gem! The works of art span centuries of artistic style, and it's all arranged very well in rooms that look not too different from the National Gallery. I was saddened to see the lack of crowds, but, at the same time, happy to see Columbia working toward a cultural focus to make it stand out in Southern cities.
