 EDITOR REVIEW: FT JACKSON / EAST COLUMBIA. Opened in 1974, Happy Bookseller is a Columbia institution. The original owners were even honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Booksellers Association. They sold the shop in 2003 to an employee, who has kept the independent bookstore vibe and spirit. The shop keeps a large and diverse stock on-hand, with plenty of comfy couches and chairs for lounging while you peruse the latest bestseller or obscure novel.
