About 10Best's Columbia Nightlife Selections:

Although it's the seat of South Carolina government, Columbia is very much a college town. That means it has an abundance of nightlife. Whether you're looking for a place that's relaxed and cosmopolitan or something rowdier and louder, Columbia has it. Most of the nightlife is centered in the Five Points and Vista districts, which border USC, but there are good alternatives further afield, too. Sleek cocktail lounges are becoming quite trendy – check out Gervais & Vine, Delaney's Speakeasy or The Blue Martini for a hit of sophistication. Live entertainment is on tap at several spots around town, including jazz and blues at Mac's on Main, acoustic and Celtic sounds at Delaney's Pub, rock at Headliners, and everything from spoken word to world music at Art Bar. For cheap beer and grub, the Village Idiot is a student standby, but the Whig is also a good bet; for more extensive beer offerings, try the Liberty Taproom, Hunter Gatherer or Flying Saucer.

Music– Owner takes pride in offering good bands each month (sometimes weekly), so call to confirm. Food – Snack machine only, but there are two pizza places nearby for dining before 9 or 10 pm. Lighting – Candles on the tables with hanging lamps above. Dance Floor – Antique wooden with a few rough spots. Seating – Tables and chairs with a few set off to themselves. Three stars.

Music – My favorite was playing (the reason I came). Food – Good. Lighting – I had enough to study some documents while I dined and listened. Dance Floor – Needs more space and out of the traffic flow. Seating – I liked my spot sort of on the edge of the stage and noticed others had found something which suited them. 4 stars.

Legacies

Music – My favorite (the reason I started going there). Food – Great! Lighting – Shaded but adequate for reading, etc. Dance Floor – The best I've found. Seating – Offers both secluded and open to socializing whichever you prefer. 5 stars.

Currently the happening bar in the Vista. Centrally located in the Vista, a good place to meet before dinner for those a few years out of college and the "in" place a little later for those just out of college.

The Blue Martini

Lady St, Columbia, SC

The atmosphere is cozy and jazzy. The live jazz music on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as the excellent martinis, are the reasons I love this bar.
