5. Chili Thai

Chili Thai is the best and most authentic Asian restaurant in Columbus. I'm a Thai food veteran, but many of my newbie friends have been converted thanks to the consistently high quality meals this restaurant serves. The owner takes great pride in his restaurant, and it shows. I always see him offering suggestions and explaining dishes. Patrons can customize the exact spiciness of their meal (measured in number of chilies). They have a good selection of curries, my personal fave being the yellow curry with 2 chilies. The Rama Curry is also excellent. The red and green curries are spicy and flavorful and pack a real punch. The chicken coconut soup is truly some of the best I've had, and you get a bowl with every lunchtime curry order. The restaurant also offers dinner specials that rotate regularly. One area of improvement might be the atmosphere and location. The restaurant is cozy, but it would benefit from a professional designer. In addition, it's situated in a strip mall on a giant hill with awkward parking. Those are unfortunate facts that may deter newcomers but certainly do not phase the regulars. I highly recommend Chili Thai--it's truly a Columbus gem!
