More about Concord

Called the heart of the "Capital Region," Concord represents the economic and social center of New Hampshire and is an integral part of life in New England. Easily accessible to major New England destinations, Concord was founded along the clear waters of the Merrimack River. The city's historical tradition is displayed in the Museum of New Hampshire History, the New Hampshire Historical Society, and the Pierce Manse, home to former US President Franklin Pierce and family from 1842 to 1848. The city also boasts a beautiful marble and granite State House. Outdoor activities abound along local parks and walking trails. Named for local teacher and astronaut Christa McAuliffe, the planetarium is a favorite with science buffs and is both educational and entertaining. Art fans delight in Millbrook Gallery & Sculpture Garden and Anderson-Soule Gallery, and folk arts and crafts lovers enjoy the traditional offerings at the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. Local events draw residents and visitors each year, and the city hosts a rich calendar of annual programs. For auto race fans, nearby Loudon is home to the New Hampshire International Speedway.
