ØSTERPORT. Designed as part of the Amalienborg complex, the Marble Church makes a strong presence on the skyline, thanks to its magnificent dome. Commissioned by Frederik V, who hoped to build the church solely with Norwegian marble, Marmorkirken was finally completed in 1894 using Danish limestone instead. Moreover, its intended Rococo style ended up being neo-Baroque. The church's signature feature, a Roman Baroque cupola, measures more than 150 feet high and 108 feet around, which makes it one of Europe's largest.
