Small though it is, Copenhagen promises a broad array of nighttime activities for folks who crave time on the town. A young clientele frequent the city’s bars and clubs, going out mainly on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. Even then, things don’t pick up until after midnight, so if you’re planning an early evening of fun, you may have to create it for yourself. Gathering with friends for a Carlsberg is a popular pastime, especially before club-going kicks in. Once that happens, folks can hang out and socialize or head for a dance club or jazz haunt. Clubs inundate patrons with vibrant sound, light, and music, promising high-energy, sensory appeal at places like Pan and Café Rust. Jazz clubs, on the other hand, grant stylized ambience and terrific live music. Jazz, in fact, is a Copenhagen signature that’s celebrated during summertime festivals and cultivated in busy, long-lived venues like La Fontaine and Copenhagen Jazz House.
