DOWNTOWN. When delivery chains just can't cut it, and you want a savory pizza loaded with great toppings, Rico's ably satisfies your craving. New York-style pies are the specialty, and from the looks of folks inside, the place does things right – as it has since 1985. Create your own pizza, or sample the Mexican, Veggie, Bacon Cheeseburger, Texas BBQ, or Chicken Cordon Blue. You can also get calzones, strombolis, appetizers, salads, subs, and pizza by the slice. Beer and wine available.

DOWNTOWN. A town favorite, this microbrewery and restaurant occupies a revamped garage and makes a terrific destination for tasty American fare and local beers. An attractive staff serves a variety of draft brews, including a popular blackberry lager, a red ale, and a dark ale. You can enjoy them inside or in the outdoor beer garden. Soups, sandwiches, and salads cater to light eaters, while dinner entrees range from beef tenderloin tournedos to fish-and-chips and Santa Fe pasta. Live music on Friday nights.

CORNING. Set in a simple, rectilinear, white-brick building, this awesome bakery doesn't readily give away its appeal from the outside. Once inside, though, you'll be struck by the range of goodies available. Large trays of pastries, doughnuts, and cookies sit alongside pies, cakes, and breads of all varieties, and the aroma of just-baked temptations is enough to make your mouth water. If you can withstand their allure in favor of lunchtime fare, opt for a sub sandwich or pizza, which are made fresh on the premises and taste just as good in-house as for take-out.

DOWNTOWN. Regional and national publications find much to recommend about this terrific restaurant – one of Corning's best. The tri-level space provides plenty of room to enjoy a Continental menu, which features sauteed scallops in champagne cream sauce, honey-pecan crusted rack of lamb, and lobster ravioli with crab-cognac bechamel. You'll also find pastas, steaks, and poultry, not to mention Friday's popular fish-and-chips dinner. Homemade desserts, a lighter lunch menu, and a Saturday pianist add to the already-strong appeal.

DOWNTOWN. First things first...the phrase "glory hole" refers to an opening in a furnace that allows glass to be reheated and its appearance refined. It's an apt name, considering that this pub pays tribute to Corning's lucrative, long-lived glass industry. The relaxed neighborhood place has a great selection of draft beers (international and regional), and it features live entertainment each week. You'll also find a tasty menu of bar food, perfect for reinvigorating you during a day of sightseeing or just fortifying you for a fun night ahead.
