2. Art Museum of South Texas

DOWNTOWN.   Located on one of Corpus Christi's most envied lots, this modern art museum places a premium on works by native Texans, especially folks from the Corpus Christi area. Even so, pieces from around the US and even the world also comprise the permanent collection. From pre-Columbian carved alabaster to paintings by Dennis Blagg, Cesar Martinez, and Charles Mary Kubricht, the museum presents a culturally diverse sampling of both style and medium. As if the artwork weren't inspiring enough, floor-to-ceiling windows boast spectacular views of Corpus Christi Bay and the Harbor Bridge.   (© 10Best)
