7. Mamma Mia's

DOWNTOWN.   Locally owned and operated, this downtown trattoria provides hungry patrons with a bit of Old Country flavor to soothe their hungry souls (and appetites). The intimate scene looks as if it's been taken straight from Mulberry Street: subdued lighting, Italian opera or Old Blue Eyes crooning, and classy tables. Indeed, if the intent is to impress with a romantic dinner setting, then Mamma Mia's is right on target. Masterful cuisine ranges from staples like chicken marsala to creative fare like fried shrimp parmesan with linguini and tomato sauce. Of course, desserts are a must, and skipping something as delightful as homemade tiramisu or strawberry zabaglione should be downright illegal.   (© 10Best)
