SOUTH CORPUS CHRISTI.
Sunrise Mall, located on Corpus Christi's bustling southside, offers a contemporary, climate-controlled setting where shoppers can spend the day perusing their favorite shops, have a bite to eat at the food court, or catch a movie at the Cinemark Dollar Cinemas. Of course, simply strolling Sunrise Mall is comfort enough, thanks to its beds of tropical plants, trickling waterfalls, and spacious seating areas. Anchor stores include Burlington Coat Factory, Sears, and Stein Mart.

Sunrise Mall has potential
Yes SunRise Mall looks isolated but it's still kicking.
I however, think it needs a new "pizzazz". What it's lacking is financial buyers to give, SunRise Mall a big turnaround. Sunrise Mall needs investors from out of town, who already have a running business that has been successful for them.

The Sunrise Mall is eerie
It really is-I went to Corpus for SkillsUSA this past April, and me and a couple of other people went to the Sunrise Mall to see a movie..it was weird.
There were about 10 people in the mall, there were hardly any stores and the ones that were there were all closed-the only ones I remember were a Tuxedo shop and some place that sells Pretzels
The escalators didn't work and were blocked off and the elevator was in pretty bad condition
We saw Friday the 13th (for 75 cents)..there was 6 people in the theater (including us-7 if you count the cashier)
I didn't think the mall was "unsafe"..just really freaking creepy
There was another mall (I think it was across the street) in much better condition with a lot more stores

Sunrise has potential.
I feel for the people that had been here in the past before IBC foreclosed and took ownership of the mall. There is a new security force and the mall is very clean. I'm actually trying to get more people to realize that there's a great little arcade on the second floor I only recently discovered when someone mentioned that there was a mini golf course also on the second floor. Here's hoping that either another anchor can move in to where Mervyn's used to be or we can get more shops there. Rent is cheap and I only felt hesitant to go there before I'd actually been. I'd heard many stories about this place being slummy but that's pre 2009.
