About Grenada
Grenada and the Grenadines are a string of islands in the southeastern Caribbean, with Grenada being the largest and most popular island. Carriacou and Petite Martinique are the two most well-known islands of the Grenadines. Grenada is a volcanic, mountainous island, covered with warm fragrant spice trees and exotic tropical flowers. Famous as the Spice Island, Grenada is known for its homegrown nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and cocoa, as well as for the rum made from its sugar cane. A visit to Grenada isn't complete without a tour of a centuries-old spice plantation or rum distillery. Deep in the twists of this little island you'll find some of the most breathtaking waterfalls, including the Annandale, Concord and Seven Sisters. While exploring the lush rainforests and crystal-clear mountain lakes, don't forget to check out Fort George as you wind your way back to the breathtaking white sandy beaches, the most famous of which is Grand Anse. The waters around Grenada are a great place not only for sailing on a cruise ship, of which there are many, but also for boating and yachting of all sorts. The Carriacou Yacht race is only one way to enjoy the seas. Of course, once you want to get wet, Grenada has plenty of coral reefs and some great places to scuba dive and snorkel. Nature lovers can't get enough of the Grand Etang Forest Preserve, the La Sagesse Nature Center, the Carriacou Botanical Gardens, and the Mt. Hartman Dove Sanctuary, where you'll find the famous Grenada dove. Don't let the allure and exotic tastes of the Spice Isle pass you by.
