About Dallas Events
Of all the yearly events in Big D, the Texas State Fair, held at Fair Park, is one of the largest and most anticipated. Millions of people attend this autumn gala, whose activities range from barbeque cook-offs and free concerts to livestock shows. Another major Fair Park event, the Cotton Bowl Classic is a New Year's Day game pitting two of college football's top teams against one another on the Texas gridiron. Held the first Saturday of December, the glittery Neiman Marcus-Adolphus Christmas Parade brings the fun and excitement of the holiday season to the downtown area. Springtime showcases all manner of budding plants, trees and flowers at the Dallas Arboretum's Dallas Blooms event, and the summertime Shakespeare Festival in East Dallas is renowned as the second-oldest non-profit Shakespeare festival in the nation. July also means it's time for the flavorful Taste of Dallas, held in the West End Historic District. Thousands of foodies flock to partake of row after row of stalls showcasing the best of local restaurateurs menus. Whether its football or flowers, barbecue or rodeo, Dallas events offer up the best of this very-Texan city. -- Joseph K. Hall Jr., 10Best Editor
