NORTH DALLAS. Nimble teppanyaki chefs put on a dazzling display of culinary skills at this Dallas location of the famed chain. Fresh seafood, steak, and poultry can be had either in the lively hibachi room or in the dining room. Sushi has been added to the menu since the restaurant's inception; nigiri, maki, hand rolls, and sushi-based entrees add delicious variety. Don't forget about Benihana for lunch smaller, less pricey versions of dinner favorites are served, as well as a bento box that combines teppanyaki and sushi items. Families appreciate the kids' menu.

Sashimi and rolls are renowned for their quality and creative presentation, and if you're feeling adventurous, try quail egg sashimi or the Louisiana Roll tempura crawfish tails, avocado, and cucumber in a sweet, spicy sauce. NORTH DALLAS. Take a seat, tuck in your napkin, and enjoy the ride: Dinners at Fuji are entertaining, if long-winded, affairs certain to keep you on your toes. Pay careful attention to hibachi chefs manning the grill in front of you a piping hot nibble might fly in your direction at any time. Many diners begin their gastronomic journeys with sushi and sashimi before ordering a hot dish and watching the chefs go to work. Scallops, shrimp, Kobe beef, vegetables, and even rice receive the teppan treatment, only to end up promptly on your plate, steaming and impossibly fresh.

"Kobe" means top-quality choice beef, and this Japanese steakhouse is dedicated to serving premium goods. The restaurant presents prime US beef prepared with the teppan grill pick your entree and the staff will cook it right in front of you! There's also a great bar for drinks before or after dinner.

Although the restaurant sits in a strip mall, don't be fooled you will find your meal here a true culinary delight! The salmon and yellowtail tuna rolls are scrumptious. The intriguing decor, which includes a tatami room, is simplistically Asian. The service is attentive and the ambiance relaxing perfect for a quiet business lunch.

Hip and inventive, this side street restaurant brings an interesting dynamic to the Greenville Avenue landscape: Tapas inspired by the cuisines of, among other countries, Japan and Thailand. Though the setting may seem unassuming, the interior of the old home the restaurant occupies has been smartly redecorated with close attention paid to the concepts of defined lines, dramatic geometry and natural harmony. The food, all the while, ranges from the familiar (lamb chops, steamed clams, sushi) to the more exotic (squid, pad thai, chicken panang).

UPTOWN. Texas's representative of this international, celeb-favored chain sports an elegant dining room accented with bamboo and black lacquer. Patrons appear as often to eat as to be seen, so be prepared for noise and inflated prices. However, the food doesn't disappoint. The omakase, a set-price menu of the chef's choosing, customarily includes cold and hot dishes, sushi, tempura, soup, and dessert. Premium ingredients like toro (the fatty, prime cut of tuna) and Kobe beef are employed with aplomb. Save this gem for a special occasion or to impress a client.

OAK LAWN. Dress to impress when visiting this Zen-inspired restaurant in the Centrum Complex. Smooth mahogany walls, dark cherry floors, dramatic lighting and a sleek, black bar give the place a contemporary attitude that sets it apart from the area's other sushi places. Premium wine and sake lead the libations; meanwhile, the kitchen never fails to impress with offerings of nigiri, maki, vegetable claypot, Australian lobster tail, Mandarin orange shrimp, and marinated Korean beef. Adding to the όber-cool vibe is the house music, which bears a distinct Euro sound.

KNOX-HENDERSON. The Tei Tei experience starts well before you enter the modern dining room. On approach, a modest stone pathway leads through a lovely garden that seems worlds away from busy Knox-Henderson. Inside, steel, copper, and exposed brick complement geometric lines and an Eastern aesthetic, stunning the senses. Sushi, sashimi, and rice bowls are impeccably prepared and presented, and grilled creations like foil-wrapped sea bass and sun-dried Spanish mackerel pay due tribute to the cuisine of Northern Japan. The sleek bar is a nice place to hang out before you're seated.
