What a shame!
We decided on Bobs for our 10th Anniversary. When we arrived, they had our reservation and immediately sat us. This is where it all fell apart. The hostess took us to a table that still had stuff on it from the prior seating. Granted the table was being cleared. So we had to stand in the middle of the dining room for 5 minutes while the busboy cleared the table. When my wife went to sit down, she sat in food that stained her white pants. The busboy came back and decided he should clean the seats. After sitting down we realized that only one of the four place settings actually had silverware, napkins, and glasses. The busboy came back with the proper setup, constantly asking my wife and me to move so he could set the table. About 10 minutes after we arrived and were seated, our table was finally set and ready for use. 15 minutes later the server actually came to our table. Along the way someone, fortunately, had given us water and stale bread. The server showed up with a used tray of baked potato condiments and proceeded to set them in front of us. She told us she would be right back and whisked off. 5 minutes later she decided to show up again and wanted to take our order. No "hi", no drink order, no rundown of the specials just "can I take your order." Needless to say we walked out immediately. Every step of the way we kept thinking that this can't get any worse. Bob's had such a great reputation certainly we are misreading the situation. Finally, though, we had it and just could stomach dropping $300-500 for our special night on a restaurant that didn't seem to care. To make matters worse, we were seated in a room with plasma TVs playing ESPN Sports Center. Really? TVs? In the restaurant? With ESPN at a noticeable volume? Not even Outback or Salt Grass would stoop to that level! With so many positive reviews and friends recommendations we had such high hopes. But as the saying goes you have one chance to make a good impression. This was anything but a good impression. There are just too many upscale steak and chop houses in the Dallas area to have to live with this type of service.

Consistently love the steaks...and dislike the service! I have been drawn to the oaklawn location over and over, and yet can only recommend the food, and quality of the beef...not the service.

Was not impressed!! Went there to celebrate a birthday. Steak was very fatty & salmon was undercooked. Would not recommend nor would I go back. It's a shame too for I live on Turtle Creek and could have been a great customer. Oh well, lots of great restaurants in Dallas.

This is a great example of why you shouldn't believe those steakhouse lists you see in airline magazines. They have to be paid advertisements as this place would never get a top 10 rating. The prices are through the roof for average food, and there was no ambience unless you like the "old" days. The steak was full of gristle – not what you'd expect from the old reviews that are available (check the menu online for prices), and the vegetables were ridiculously overpriced. Notice the other reviews are all 2 to 3 years old, maybe nobody goes there anymore. I sure wish we hadn't! The manager never came by to check on us. The waitress kept our glasses full, that was about it for the highlights. The menu is unimaginative, less than inspiring, and we couldn't wait to finish our overpriced meal to leave and get dessert elsewhere. This place is probably out of the top 50 in Dallas; Friday's, Chili's, Old San Francisco Steak House, Saltgrass, and Outback all are better than what we had. Save yourself the trouble and aggravation – eat somewhere else!

This is THE BEST STEAK EVER!!! I LOVED the ambiance as well. It wasn't an uptight steakhouse, and its steak was even better!!!

If not for the loud table of three couples seated next to us, this would have been one of the best experiences on our trip to Dallas. The food was excellent and the atmosphere delightful. We even spotted the biggest star of all! Highly recommended!

Not being a beefeater, I thoroughly enjoyed eating at Bob's, one of the two best steak houses in the US. The other is Manny's in Minneapolis.
