It looks like so many other chic Highland Park Village boutiques: beautiful, indulgent, expensive, irresistible, but look and listen closely, and you'll discover the story behind the Woman's Exchange in Dallas. There are no necessities here, only heavenly frivolities: throw pillows, beaded handbags, pewter, gourmet foods, and so on. The difference in this store and the others in the Village? Only the manager and cleaning crew are paid. Everyone else gives time and talent without charge, leaving all the profits for charities. Open Monday-Saturday. (from Southern Living)
