Fact 1: Ground was broken around a peanut field at Darlington International in 1949 by Harold Brasington. The Raceway was resurfaced in 1994 and a new track layout was designed in 1997. There have been 99 NASCAR Winston Cup races at Darlington since the track first opened in 1950. The Raceway hosts the NASCAR Nextel Series Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 and the NASCAR Busch Series Diamond Hill Plywood 200 in March.
