  1. Get your motor running! Cruising is permitted on 18 of the 23 miles of wide, hard packed sands of Daytona Beach. Watch your speed though; the maximum limit is 10 miles per hour.
  2. I feel the need, the need for speed! The city is home to the Daytona International Speedway, where eight weekends of racing are held each year. The Daytona 500 lasts about 5 hours and draws close to 200,000 people each year.

  4. Take me out to the ballgame! The Jackie Robinson Ballpark is home to the Daytona Cubs, the Chicago Cubs Class A affiliate in the Florida State League. Despite the fact that there are no records of when the stadium was built, it is the oldest minor league stadium in use.
  5. If you're in Daytona during the months of January or February, it's a good idea to take a side trip to Blue Springs. Each year, manatees flock to the area in order to enjoy the 121 million gallons of 72-degree water that flows from the Blue Springs boil.
  6. Some things in life are free! Go to Angel and Phelps Chocolate Factory and sample, for free, some of the more than 100 candies that are made there! Guided tours of the 1925 establishment are also offered at no cost.
  7. Daytona is "sin-onymous" with the nation-wide phenomenon known as Spring Break. This time of the year, from early March to Easter, draws over 200,000 people!
  8. Born to be Wild! The biggest week on Daytona's calendar is Bike Week. Every March as many as 400,000 bikers descend upon the city.
  9. At low tide the shores of Daytona Beach can be up to 500 feet wide – almost the length of two football fields.
  10. Rocketman! The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is just a few miles from Daytona. The center hosts the US Space Camp, when children can attend a five-day session of "astronaut training."
