DECATUR.   If Central Illinois has a signature cuisine, it may very well be what's served at this ever-popular burger joint and its handful of nearby locations. Known far and wide for the Caddy they've tweaked to resemble barnyard fowl, the Decatur branch of Krekel's takes itself and its reputation for tasty grub seriously – but not too seriously. The formula's a proven one, though, since generations of hungry patrons flood through the doors, ready to eat their fill of cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings and malts.   (© 10Best)

I have a video of my son-in-law asking my daughter, as she is eating gelatto from the best spot in Paris, "What is your favorite ice cream now?" Without hesitation she turned to him and said, "It is still Krekel's Lemon Custard." We only get to Decatur 2-3 times a year, but we always find time for a meal and a few lemon cones!

I live an hour away and make the drive several times a year just for these awesome burgers and yummy custard. Best place to eat in Decatur, hands down!!
