DECATUR. This "rediscovered" area has received a shot in the arm in recent years, and all signs indicate that it's emerging as one of Central Illinois' most attractive business districts. Indeed, many turn-of-the-century storefronts along Main Street now house restaurants complete with sidewalk seating. In addition, popular gathering spots like Katz give Downtown Decatur a pulse and rhythm all its own.

ELWIN. If you're searching for an antique china cabinet or wardrobe, Elwin is a good place to start. This spacious antique mall carries a wide range of rare and beautiful pieces, from primitive quilts and furniture to more refined Victorian pieces and chandeliers. Leave yourself plenty of time to browse. The mall is also home to the cozy Raspberry Tea Room, where folks gather for sandwiches, soups, desserts, and of course, coffee and hot tea.

FORSYTH. One of the area's top shopping destinations, Hickory Point Mall features five anchor stores (Bergner's, JCPenney, Kohl's, Sears and Von Maur) and a good mix of popular specialty shops like Finish Line, Old Navy, Waldenbooks, Limited and American Eagle Outfitters. Wide, well-lit corridors allow shoppers to amble through the mall with relative ease, and places like the Daily Grind Coffee Company serve just the right fuel to get you through hours of thumbing through racks.

Much of it is stocked with beautiful porcelain, crystal, depression glass, railroad memorabilia, paintings, and furniture representing a wide range of periods and styles.
