DENTON. El Chico's saga began in the '20s, when Adelaida Cuellar opened a taqueria just outside of the Big D. Her homemade Mexican fare quickly became the rage, and folks clamored to get tamales, chili, and tacos. From such humble beginnings arose the El Chico dynasty, a Mexican chain with franchises all over the South. Nowadays, El Chico boasts a distinct, Mexican-themed decor and an eye-popping menu with everything from famous Top Shelf Fajitas to Grilled Chicken Chipotle. An ideal stop for the entire family, even those who prefer burgers and fries.
