5. Johnny Carino's Country Italian

DENTON.   Forget that Johnny C's is a chain, and you'll likely discover that this place is about as close to the Old Country as you can get in these parts. Designers went to great lengths to recreate an Italian farmhouse, from rustic, wrought-iron light fixtures and exposed wooden ceiling beams to cozy tables. The fare borrows heavily from traditional favorites, and included in the nightly lineup are dishes like twelve-layer lasagna, calzones, heaping pastas, and hand-made pizzas.   (© 10Best)

Another truely great, more authentic than Americanized Italian restaurant. This jewel is hidden in an ugly stip mall in Corinth (next the Denton County Republican headquarters) and is worth the effort to find it. Try the tortellini with gorgonzola cream sauce. HOLY COW delicious. Excellent for lunch or dinner. Comfortable and casual with good atmosphere.
