DENTON.   Warm and inviting, family-owned Banter boasts bohemian attitude and an array of live entertainment (art shows, poetry readings, and open-mic and acoustic sets). The food is fresh, wholesome and healthy. The decor includes hand-selected artwork and framed photographs. Terrific, if potent, coffee drinks, beer, and wine round out the offerings. Banter is a great place to find out what Denton is really like. The musical acts are usually good, or at least unique. People go there and stay for hours and it's usually kind of quiet during the day. It's a good place to talk or study. The food is overpriced and the coffee sucks, and don't expect to be served quickly because there's often only one person working when there should be two. The beer choices are good and they can't screw that up.
