Spacious and casual, Andy's is a terrific place to gather with friends for a night of good food, great drink specials, and the area's best live music.

DENTON. From the outside, the Silverleaf is a dive in the purest sense of the word. But first impressions can be deceptive: the nondescript, marine-blue building features some of the area's top live performances. Inside, great acoustics come courtesy of a high ceiling supported by exposed metal beams. Plus, the wide-open dance floor accommodates a ton of people, and the friendly bar staff mixes up just about any drink you can imagine. Patrons wanting a breath of fresh air head out back to the relaxing patio.

DENTON. One of the most popular gathering spots in town, Dusty's is especially favored by local college kids, who saddle up to the enormous bar and take advantage of great drink specials and tasty pub grub. Inside, the scene seems right out of the "College Bar Handbook" – jeans-wearing co-eds laughing and having a great time amid weathered brick walls and beer posters. Each night, there's a different activity, whether it's an eight-ball tournament, air hockey, live music, or a game shown on big-screen TVs.

DENTON. A large sign reads, "Enter Here," and that's just what folks do, night in and night out. Fry Street Tavern attracts big crowds all year long, especially during football season when local college teams and the Dallas Cowboys are on the tube. Not interested in TV? Then try your hand at eight ball, darts, foosball, or Golden Tee. The place's dark green walls sport colorful beer ads and posters, giving it a definite dorm room feel. You can always expect to hear great music being played over the in-house stereo.

DENTON. A great place to gather with amigos and catch the game on TV, JT's scores big with local college folks, thanks to a laid-back attitude, strategically-placed TVs, and a central location off the square. The place occupies an old brick building; inside, walls are hung with neon signs and obligatory beer and sports posters. Additional seating is available upstairs, along with video games. What's more, the kitchen serves a terrific lineup of bar food, from hot wings and homemade chips and salsa to a large selection of wraps and sandwiches to platters, making Hooligans ideal for lunch as well.

DENTON. By day, this downtown building serves as a rehearsal studio for many local bands. Once the sun goes down, however, the gloves come off, so to speak, and crowds flood in to catch a show at this top live music venue. Indeed, performances at the one-time cement factory are something else, thanks to great acoustics, eclectic crowds, and cool scenery (walls are decorated with mementos of bands that have played or rehearsed here). An outdoor stage is used when the weather is nice, another feather in Rubber Gloves' cap.

DENTON. Located in one of Denton's oldest buildings, this friendly bar and grill is not only a sports venue but also a place to grab good grub. Indeed, while some folks come to imbibe a bit and watch games on the tube, most stop by for chicken fried steak, hot wings, wrap sandwiches, and burgers. If you need to work off a few extra cals, Loophole offers pool tables, video games, and darts. As for spirits, full bar service is available, and they offer great specials, especially during happy hour.
