GOLDEN TRIANGLE. Yet another hip nightspot in the Golden Triangle, The Shelter attracts eager clubbers with a massive dance floor, a relaxed basement lounge, and a rooftop patio with fantastic views of the Front Range and the Denver skyline. On the main level, patrons groove to rock, house, and electronica while those in search of a more laid-back scene head downstairs to the Milk lounge for live jazz. Drink prices can be steep, but the energetic ambiance is worth the expense.

CHERRY CREEK. Denver's Bull & Bush mirrors Britain's best pubs, down to its cozy furnishings and characteristic memorabilia. Guests revel in the comfortable, dim interior as well as in the microwbrews, which flow freely and are apt complements to authentic plates of fish and chips. Multiple televisions keep visitors abreast of the latest happenings in the sports arena, and well-prepared pub fare keeps them sustained when the competition grows keen.

GOLDEN TRIANGLE. Pint's is a traditional British pub – with a twist. Although it boasts British memorabilia, gone are dim, wood-heavy interiors characteristic of England's finest establishments. Instead, you'll find bright colors, a vibrant mural, and photos of pubs in the UK. Home-brewed pale and light ales can be sampled from the drinks menu, which also offers a large selection of single malt scotches and single malt whiskeys. Burgers and fries (sprinkled with vinegar, of course) showcase the menu's respect for great pub fare.

GOLDEN TRIANGLE. Housed (not unexpectedly) in a former church, this nightspot takes adaptive reuse to a new level. Locals, in particular, love to dance the night away amid the gorgeous architecture of the striking building. Upbeat music reverberates throughout the large space, and young, single professionals capitalize on its reputation as one of Denver's best singles spots. Given the night, you'll find plenty of well-dressed Denverites sipping expensive drinks and dancing to DJ-spun tunes. The Church also boasts a wine bar and sushi bar.

LODO. Certainly one of the biggest clubs in Denver, this behemoth of hedonism sports three dance floors, two lounges, barely-attired go-go dancers, and plenty of space to unleash your best moves. Dance floors vary in size to accommodate different crowds and grooves, and the outdoor SkyBar offers a moment of fresh air if you're feeling overwhelmed. Theme nights keep it fresh – Get Sexy Go Sexy Fridays and Domingo Caliente Sundays attract a mixed crowd of 20- and 30-somethings looking for fun.

UPTOWN. Not just a fancy sobriquet, Dazzle more than lives up to its name. The popular restaurant and bar is known for its funky interior and stylish clientele. You're sure to find something just right for your tastes, whether it's cocktails in the lounge or a full meal in the dining room. In fact, Dazzle's New American cuisine is nothing to overlook, and dishes like chicken risotto, roast pork loin, and Atlantic salmon are prepared with innovation and skill.

CAPITOL HILL. Perfect for a relaxed night out with a great group of friends, Gabor's provides stiff drinks (well specials are fantastic), tasty food, comfy red booths, and an outstanding jukebox. A bit of old Hollywood glamour can be found in black-and-white movie stills and memorabilia covering the walls. Pool tables and video poker machines in the back room provide a great opportunity to sidle away from the group. Sit back with an ice-cold gin and tonic and a hot basket of fries while you enjoy tunes on the jukebox – you'll hear Led Zeppelin, the White Stripes, and everything in between.

LODO. Occupying one of Denver's oldest buildings, multi-level Wynkoop Brewing Company was the town's first genuine brewpub and remains its favorite. The ground floor is a family-friendly dining room with a menu of traditional pub grub and American regional favorites. Upstairs is a classy, often crowded pool hall with 22 tables. If all of them are occupied, you'll have time to enjoy a handcrafted brew – the Railyard Ale and Sagebrush Stout are tried-and-true winners. Finally, in the basement, the Impulse Theater group presents wickedly funny improv to sold-out audiences. This is as "Denver" as it gets!

GOLDEN TRIANGLE. Atmospheric, dimly lit, and frequented by a contingent of Denver's most practiced nightlifers, Funky Buddha is a favorite destination. Patrons dress to the nines and take seriously their mission of drinking and socializing. Various DJs spin throughout the week, and music tracks include house, salsa, trance, and hip-hop. An addictive tapas menu and exceptional martinis add to Buddha's already-strong appeal.

LODO. El Chapultepec has been hosting jazz and blues notables since 1951, including the likes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. The place is small and usually crowded, but it's known throughout Denver as the city's best venue for live blues and jazz. A limited menu of drinks and Mexican food is offered, and you'll want to try the burritos, which are almost as legendary as the performers. Live music every single night, and never a cover charge! Two-drink minimum per set.
