16th Street Mall

DOWNTOWN. This expansive outdoor mall, accented with lush planters and graceful trees, features a wealth of retail and dining facilities and has helped to revitalize downtown Denver. The pedestrian-friendly thoroughfare is also convenient if you want to browse, since stores, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment venues lie in a concentrated stretch. Even so, the scope of the mall is quite large, spanning multiple city blocks. A complimentary shuttle service transports visitors from one end to the other. Interesting trivia nuggets: the mall was designed by architectural firm I.M. Pei and Associates, and if you look down you may notice that the granite blocks of the sidewalks are patterned to resemble Westen Diamondback rattlesnake skin.

SOUTH DENVER. Over 400 antiques dealers pack this 18-block stretch of shopping terrain. Whether you peek into one of the co-ops or spend hours browsing specialty shops, you're sure to find a one-of-a-kind treasure. Silver, porcelain, Depression glass, toys and dolls, jewelry, furniture, clothing, and much more can be found along this charming, strollable section of Broadway. Fatigued deal-hunters need look no further than Heidi's Brooklyn Deli or Cafe Metro for a hearty sandwich and a reviving cup of coffee, respectively.

CHERRY CREEK. The upscale Cherry Creek North Shopping District is an enclave of fashionable boutiques, galleries, and elegant restaurants favored by the city's most practiced shoppers. Many stores carry unique, handcrafted items, a boon if you're trying to find something special for that hard-to-shop-for person. Art lovers can spend hours perusing the variety of galleries that line the quiet streets. Throughout the year, festivals, fairs, and public events take place in the vicinity. At the large facility, you'll find upscale department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus alongside favored venues like Restoration Hardware, Tiffany & Co., Abercrombie & Fitch, Williams-Sonoma, and Diesel. LODO. Larimer Square and its surrounding area have been bustling since Denver's inception. Early on, the Square served as a main thoroughfare for gold prospectors and settlers and was home to the city's first drygoods store, bank, and bookstore. Today, it's still a happening place, known to locals as one of Denver's premiere shopping and dining districts. Visitors will find a host of upscale restaurants and interesting specialty shops, along with seasonal and special events held throughout the year.

DOWNTOWN. Located on 16th Street and running a couple of city blocks, the Tabor provides three stories of shopping fun. With over 26,000 feet of retail space, the mall is a great downtown shopping destination. In addition to independent specialty shops offering apparel, accessories for the home and garden, shoes, and gifts, you'll also find popular chains such as Christopher & Banks. The food court's impressive variety of cuisines proves popular with hungry area workers as well as shoppers in need of a boost.

WESTMINSTER. Situated northwest of Denver, Westminster isn't far from the downtown area. The mall, shelters a variety of stores, including department store standards such as Dillard's, JCPenney, Sears, and Macy's. About 200 specialty shops offer everything from apparel to electronics, and include favorites like the Disney Store, Express, and Footlocker. There are plenty of choices when it comes to food, as well – you can opt for a full sit-down Italian meal, a soft pretzel on the run, or even dessert and coffee.
