The Buzz -- For nearly 30 years, this local group has hosted an annual summer opera festival. From mid-June to mid-July, the Des Moines Metro Opera stages full operatic scores sung in English. Performances are scheduled nightly and are held at the Blank Performance Arts Center in Indianola, which is only a short drive from the city. Call ahead for schedules and prices.
