Locally acclaimed, this may be the best breakfast spot in Des Moines. The Waveland Café's décor features walls faux-painted with windows and sconces, as well as coffee mugs lined on pegs behind the sit-down counter. The menu features home-style cooking, and breakfast is served all day. Diners can savor a made-to-order meal while enjoying the eclectic touches of purple polka dot curtains and the interesting ambience. The clientele runs the gamut from college kids to society mavens.

The menu changed very little from when it was 4 seasons, but the quality of food took a drastic downhill turn. The vegetables taste like nursing home food and you have the blackest meatloaf Iv'e ever seen
A definite no go for us.

The food is top notch, except I would prefer patty sausage instead of link. The service is "usually" good. There is one waitress that has been there for years that seems to whistle constantly. Very annoying, especially at breakfast.... for that matter, at any time. I will put up with the oud music from the kitchen, but spare me the "whistling" that is like scraping nails across the chalkboard.
