Shoppers can purchase the exquisite blown glass artwork of artists from Murano, as well as Capodimonte porcelain and merchandise by Barbini and Seguso. Since 1871, Joseph's has been dazzling Des Moines with the finest gemstones. The store is located in the Equitable Building and is family owned and operated. Exquisitely designed creations will cause customers to marvel. The store carries brand names like Baccarat, Waterford and Lalique. Merchandise includes clocks, watches, jewelry, silver, porcelain and crystal. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable.

With two storefronts available, shoppers have a choice at this local store. Tandem Brick provides a gift shop area as well as a custom framing area. The gift section features items like greeting cards and candles, while the framing section showcases original artwork and nicer accessories. The art is bright and colorful and falls into a whimsical theme. There are even original pieces signed by the artists.

Independently owned, The Book Store is convenient to downtown and stocks a variety of magazines and periodicals. The bookstore is housed in the Equitable Building, which features a gorgeous lobby, and the staff is talkative and helpful.

From contemporary artwork to exquisitely designed jewelry, this local three-level gallery carries items that are "a little something extra," which is what the name means in Creole. The Lagniappe also provides custom framing services and features an array of stoneware, glassware and sculpture, as well as fountain and garden ornaments. The décor features colorful purple carpeting, and the ambience is rustic yet ethnic.
