DESTIN. One of the Emerald Coast's most celebrated restaurants, this waterfront eatery serves American cuisine with Asian and European influences. Its chef, Tim Creehan, creates dishes such as tempura-fried grouper with black bean sauce and stir-fried vegetables, oven-roasted pork with shiitake mushroom dressing, or roasted lamb with eggplant and goat cheese rolls. He is also known for his hot crawfish salad, crabmeat spring rolls, white chocolate banana cream pie, and a delightful Sunday brunch. These, along with his other specialties, reveal why he has been chosen as chef for dinners hosted by celebrities such as Amy Grant, Vince Gill and Cybill Shepherd.

DESTIN. Sheathed in weathered clapboards and shaded by live oaks, this dim, cool eatery is a local favorite. A simple interior of tiled floors and wooden walls sets the scene for uncomplicated food and large portions. Breakfast is served all day and features eggs combined with bacon, ham, pork chops, steak or sausage. You'll also find omelets, egg sandwiches, eggs Benedict, pancakes, waffles, doughnuts and a glass case filled with pastries. Their specialty is the (tongue-in-cheek) "diet" plate, which comes with fried eggs, cheese, sausage, gravy and home fries. Another location is in Santa Rosa Beach at 6745 Highway 98 W - 850-267-3239.
