BELLE ISLE.
Belle Isle is a 983-acre island park on the Detroit River. It's a favorite picnic spot and is ideal for fishing and outdoor recreation. The park features a nature center, tennis courts, beach areas, a waterslide, and playgrounds, and it's connected to the city by bridge. Belle Isle boasts spectacular views of the downtown skyline.

Don't hate on Belle Isle!
Anyone who tells you visiting Detroit isn't worth it or that it's not safe or that there's nothing to do is just WRONG! Belle Isle is the greatest place ever to go spend a summer afternoon watching boats on the river or to beat the winter blues by going to the conservatory and seeing all of the tropical flowers in bloom and the citrus trees full of fruit. And I've never been the victim of a crime while visiting this island retreat!

I think Belle Isle is the greatest
I love visiting Belle Isle all summer long. The beach is very clean compared to Metro. There are a ton of things to do on Belle Isle. The playscape is HUGE and my kids love it.
