ROYAL OAK.   Traditional and contemporary Italian cuisine is enjoyed by young professionals and the young-at-heart of any age at this lively restaurant. Appetizers include grilled portobella mushrooms served with fresh garden vegetables and beef carpaccio. The entrée menu features chicken marsala, Atlantic salmon, and veal scaloppine. D'Amato's also serves excellent pasta, pizza, soups, and salads. Every Tuesday through Saturday groups play jazz, blues and spin music at Goodnite Gracie, D'Amato's adjoining jazz and martini bar.

Wow, we loved it here
We've lived in Royal Oak for 10 years and came across D'Amato's before going to the theatre. We're so glad we did, because it's now our favorite restaurant around. And...it's close. We sat at a nice table with cozy wicker chairs and tried a bottle of wine, a delicious Spanish tempranillo. Our waiter suggested it and he hit the nail right on the head. My husband and I split the crab cake appetizer, topped with a sunny side egg....delicious. We shared the green salad, complete with green beans, asparagus, and prosciutto. The kicker was the white truffle vinaigrette, which I've never tried...now I want it again and again. For dinner we tried a special, the wreck bass with peas and pancetta, amazing. My husband had the spinach ricotta gnocchis. I'm generally not a fan of gnocchis, but these were light, full of flavor, and delightful. Save room for the caramel apple donuts with cinnamon marscarpone. You'll be happy you did! It's nice to discover restaurants and it's nicer when they turn out to be comfortable, memorable, and scrumptious! Well done guys!!
