DOWNTOWN DETROIT.   One of downtown's trendiest dance clubs, Leland City is a regular destination for the area's alternative crowd. It features a state-of-the-art sound system that pumps out music at deafening decibels, making it extremely popular with the Motor City's young clubbers and avant-garde night owls. Industrial numbers from the likes of Thrill Kill Kult, Ministry, and Nine Inch Nails usually rock the place, and the darkly lit club tends to get louder and more crowded as the night wears on. N.B. To enter, look for the unmarked door on First Street.   (© 10Best)

Excellent music and a nice large dance floor. However, the place is dirty and I am guessing under funded. There is NO dress code. And... No one really cares how you dress or how you dance. Which I like. Though the club itself looks quite scary, most of the people are actually quite friendly. Some of the bouncers are very cool and have a good sense of humor. Though some of them take their job way too seriously. Though, it is in detroit, so it is understandable. If you like to dance WITH people, you might have trouble. People here tend to do their own thing. Even if they came with friends, they are dancing by theirselves. Plus, being in detroit, I don't know how many women come along without bringing guys with them. But, if you want to dance with someone you can. It just takes some looking around. The club itself is legendary, but over 20 years of high-attendance & low-investment have more than begun to take its toll. The sound system is a joke. Yes, it's loud, but does it sound good? Not really. The restrooms are dirty. There are a lot of 18-20 year olds in this place. Save City Club for a special event where the promoters are bringing in their own sound systems, usually over Memorial Day weekend during the electronic music festival.
