ROYAL OAK.   Large storefront windows look into Bastone's open, high-ceilinged space, which also features a dark-wood wainscot, comfortable booths, wooden floors, and a scattering of framed art. Modelled after a Belgian brasserie, the place offers familiars like pommes frites, mussels, and housemade pâté. Sandwiches, thin-crust pizzas, and salads appear, along with main courses like grilled hanger steak, herb-roasted chicken, and chicken waterzooi, a luscious stew.
