About Detroit Shopping

Detroit Shopping, Shopping in Detroit

Since the Detroit metro is spread out across a variety of communities and suburbs, it presents a broad selection of retail options. As a result, it seems that you'll find a mall or shopping center every little bit. While that sort of convenience is satisfying, not all complexes are created equal. Luckily, we give you only the best. Open-air Eastern Market, for example, is a city mainstay that lets folks pick up a range of produce, meats, spices, and other necessities. It also hosts a number of restaurants. Greektown is another Detroit must. The long-lived neighborhood is perennially busy, and folks come from all over to partake of its shops, cafes, and independent businesses. Within the villages of Rochester Hills and Royal Oak are other charming districts that feature a treasure trove of unique stores where visitors can find everything from original art to well-known apparel purveyors. Both of them are perfect alternatives when you want something more than a typical mall. However, malls are also in good supply, and Detroit promises a variety of them. Arguably, the most impressive is the Somerset Collection, which plies shoppers with topnotch department stores, enticing specialty shops, and beautiful surroundings. Another favorite, Twelve Oaks Mall, also pulls in a brisk business, and no place is better equipped to please bargain seekers than Great Lakes Crossing, an enormous shopping center that delivers the best in upscale outlet merchandise. -- Kelly Sigmon, Senior Editor
