SMYRNA. For nature lovers, a visit to nearby Bombay Hook is an absolute must. This 15,000-acre wildlife reserve features wide expanses of unspoiled tidal salt marsh (one of the largest such areas in the US) as well as biomes ranging from timber swamps to grassy uplands. Established in 1937 as a primary stopping point for migratory birds, Bombay Hook sees an unbelievable number of winged passers-through during early fall and spring months, including snow geese and black-necked stilts.
