6. Kronentor (Crown Gate)

Located at the main entrance to the Zwinger art gallery, the famed Crown Gate is a historic remnant of Dresden's past, when ruling families called the city home. The gold-encrusted gate remains one of the favorite landmarks of the city. The crown on the top of the gate represents Saxon ruling power and rests on the backs of four Polish eagles – a reminder of Augustus the Strong's rule over the country to the east.   (© 10Best)
