2. Augustusbrücke (Augustus Bridge)

This stately bridge spans the Elbe River, connecting the old city with the new city and offering spectacular views of the city. Named for Augustus the Strong, the bridge was built as a connector between the city center and the developing suburbs across the river. The bridge stands in front of the impressive Catholic Church. After being destroyed during World War II, the span was rebuilt in its original form several years later.   (© 10Best)
