9. The Gold Souk

DEIRA.   Gold as far as the eye can see! Well, almost. This one area is home to some 300 jewelers, offering mostly gold items but some gemstones and silver as well. Haggling is the expected means of transaction, so bring your best bargaining skills (it helps to know the going rate for gold – prices are based on weight). Even if you aren't in the market for jewelry, a stroll through this souk is definitely worthwhile for the ooh-and-ahh-factor alone.
