SUPERIOR. Deemed as the last whaleback ship in the world, this notable Duluth attraction boasts a round, whale-shaped design allowing it to sail close to the surface of the water. The S.S. Meteor was once used to transport grain, ore, iron, cars and more across the shores of Lake Superior. The ship's permanent home is now Barkers Island, where tourists can come from May to October to learn about the history of the town and participate in entertaining and educational Duluth tours.
