12. St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (The Depot)

DULUTH.   Long considered the proverbial center of town and the "Ellis Island of Northeastern Minnesota," this Duluth history and heritage spot has reestablished itself as a social focal point, even though passenger trains no longer stop. Instead, the French-Norman-style Union Depot (circa 1892) is home to a handful of organizations, including the Duluth Playhouse, Railroad Museum, Duluth Children's Museum, Duluth Symphony, Duluth Art Institute, and St. Louis County Historical Society.
