SUPERIOR.   Learn the story of Dick Bong, a native of nearby Superior, Wisconsin, and notable World War II hero, at told at this Lake Superior museum. With more than 40 "kills" to his credit, Bong had a storied career that earned him the Congressional Medal of Honor and the title "Ace of Aces." Although Bong died in 1945 while testing an early jet airplane, his legacy lives on at this center, which contains personal effects and historical items that provide perspective on this hero's life.   (© 10Best)
