Arbroath Abbey was established in 1178 by King William the Lion and dedicated to the Archbishop of Canterbury. William the Lion was buried here upon his death. The Abbey is also the place where Scotland's Declaration of Independence from England was signed in 1320. Today, the ruins of this magnificient abbey remain and are well worth seeing.   (© 10Best)
