The ancient Picts, who were pagans and eventually joined the Scots to form Scotland, first settled in this area. The Picts tattooed their bodies and left their legacy on carved stones and pictographs. This park and castle display their history. The castle grounds house Pictavia, which exhibits how this tribe lived more than 2,000 years ago. The castle also offers a garden center, coffee shop, and a series of walking trails.
