Confederate Soldiers on the Road to Bennett Place |
The Buzz -- Join us as we commemorate the surrender which reunited our nation. Home of James and Nancy Bennett, this was the scene of the largest surrender of the American Civil War. Joseph E. Johnston met General William T. Sherman on April 26, 1865 and surrendered more than 89,000 Confederate soldiers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Meet the generals and the Bennett family. Union and Confederate soldiers will be encamped throughout the weekend. The Visitor Center has a museum gallery, the film, “Dawn of Peace”, and a museum gift shop. |
