This family-friendly museum boasts many fascinating hands-on activities, lifelike exhibits and best of all, live plants and animals. The Magic Wings Butterfly House resembles a tropical rainforest, while the Carolina Wildlife section houses gators, bats, snakes, owls, an opossum and a woodchuck. Be sure not to miss the ABC News Channel 11 exhibit, where you may stand in a simulated tornado or build sand dunes. Other highlights include Loblolly Park, Aerospace, the Nature Park, Science Arcade and a ride aboard the Ellerbe Creek Railway. (© 10Best) A gotta-do, especially for the younger set, is the Museum of Life & Science and its Magic Wings Butterfly House. This impressive facility houses an interactive science and technology center, aerospace exhibits, a small railway, and the largest butterfly house east of the Mississippi. Although the museum appeals mainly to children and families, be forewarned. Grown-ups might learn something here too.
