8. Mad Hatter's Bake Shop

Popular with Duke University students and faculty, this shop and café offers freshly baked breads, muffins, and desserts to eat in or take home. With a huge variety of cakes and desserts to choose from, you may have a tough time making up your mind. The signature black and white cake is a surefire winner, but all of the seasonal berry shortcakes are good as well. If you're looking more for cookies or pastries, you'll be happy here.
