DOWNVILLE. Gain some insight into Wisconsin's first great industry – lumbering – at this museum located in the rural community of Downville. Two levels of exhibits include everything from blacksmith tools and early farm machinery to 19th century logging tools and artifacts from Knapp, Stout & Company (at one time, the nation's largest white pine lumber company). In addition, outside of the museum, visitors will find an old village jail cell and a post office dating from the Civil War-era.
