The City Chambers started as a place to serve merchants in the Royal Exchange when it was built in 1761. By 1811, the town council had moved into the building, and council meetings have been held here since that time. When the Parliament is in session, you can purchase tickets to attend on an ad hoc basis or for a particular debate.
