This historic site contains the graves of over 80,000 people. It is where the National Covenant was signed in 1638. Though the graveyard is a memorial for many important people and events, it has become most renowned for Bobby, a Skye terrier buried here in 1872. Bobby was famous for his loyalty to John Gray, his deceased master. The dedicated terrier would not leave Gray's grave until his own death 14 years later. Today, people can visit the statue of Bobby sitting atop a fountain in the graveyard.
